Kingsbridge U11 45 Saltash U11 7
Saltash kicked off but didn’t make the necessary five yards so immediately Kings opted for a scrum on the halfway line. Things were fairly well matched in the loose but some demon tackling by Sam Rhymes and Ryan Gotch stemmed any Saltash flow until Will Hitchen made a brilliant break putting the first 5 points on the board, converted by Dylan Hughes. Luke Simpson linked well with Marcus Rayworth ensuring Kings were in a comfortable position 12-0 ahead after 10 minutes play. Straight from the re-start Saltash were caught off-guard as Luke increased the lead further with a mazy run and a try in the corner, converted by Ben Wotton. Final play of Kingsbridge’s strong first half ended on a high with a well-deserved try for Ben putting the visitors 24-0 ahead at the break.
Some great scrummaging from Josh Ball, Ollie Tucker and Bryn Pratt paid off as the backs got some great clean ball with Sam R passing to Oliver Robinson who ran in the 5th try, converted by Ben 31-0. A brilliant centre switch from Max Bewley and Ben put Kings into Saltash territory and some great rucking from Sam Dod and Toby Churcher got quick and secure ball for the backs and Marcus bundled his way over for his second try of the morning, converted by Sam R. Saltash kept their heads up and finally were rewarded with a greatly deserved try and conversion. In the last few minutes of the second half and to finish off a proper Cornish and Devon battle Alex Moysey pushed his way through the Saltash defence for his first Kingsbridge try, the supporters were delighted. A final tidy conversion from Marcus ended another superb victory for the blue and whites 45-7.
