Kingsbridge U12     30 – 10         Brixham U12

Kingsbridge played host to the junior Trawlermen on Sunday in the penultimate game of what has again been a very successful season. Fine weather and a dry pitch was always going to suit both teams attacking style, and a competitive match was expected.

The first half was largely even with strong attack and defence from both sides making a compelling spectacle. Kingsbridge opened the score when Joe ’Bear’ Thompson made a storming run through the visitors defence, only to be stopped just short of the Brixham line. Daisy was first in support and crossed the line from short for the opening score. Oscar then followed up with another try, dancing through the Brixham defence with ease to increase the gap. Brixham hit back with a well worked try of their own, before Sammy restored the two try lead following a flowing move involving Callum and Lenny on the wing.

The Kings were on fire now, and despite his unusually long journey to the game, Lenny crossed again to increase the lead. Noah soon got on the score sheet, picking up a clearance kick and running back from deep, before a tiring Brixham team got a try back through a fine individual effort. The Kings weren’t finished though, with Molly ripping the ball from a maul and crossing the line for the final score. A great game between two well matched teams, that was decided by the Kings strength in the ruck, and superb handling and running in the backs.
