Kingsbridge U13s  34 – 0  Newton Abbot U13s

The Under 13’s of Kingsbridge and Newton Abbot met at a blustery high house.

Newton Abbot started the game with a high kick into the swirling wind. Kingsbridge took immediate possession and piled on the pressure with some good handling to move the ball to within 5 meters of the try line, forcing a scrum. A good shove from the home pack and Henry picked up from the back row to burst over the line and score.

Kings comfortably won the ball from the kick off and, thanks to some good interplay between the team, were once again within striking distance of the Newton Abbot line. Alex went for a gap and dived over. Ben’s resulting conversion, extending Kingsbridge’s lead.

More great teamwork soon led to a 2nd try for Alex, with Ben adding 2 more points with his right boot.

By now, Kingsbridge were relentless, pressing ever forward into Newton Abbot’s 22. 10 meters out, the ball came loose following a tackle and Troy capitalised to score Kings 4th try.

With half time approaching there was no let up from Kings. Harry popped the ball to Charlie on the wing 40 meters from the line. He put on a burst of pace showing the defence a clean pair of heels all the way to the corner to score. Kings went in at halftime 29 – 0.

Newton Abbot defended strongly in the 2nd half. They kept Kings at bay with some good tackling and worked hard to repel the attacks from the boys in blue. However, a loss of concentration in the line out allowed Sol to pounce on the loose ball to score.

Newton abbot refused to be beaten and worked hard to keep the ball through several phases but the Kingsbridge defence would not yield. At the final whistle the score stood at 34-0. A great team performance!
