Kingsbridge U13’s 36 Devonport Services U13s 8

Having lost to Devonport Services in a cup match the previous week, Kingsbridge were keen to make amends for that lacklustre performance. Fired up by a tough training session on Friday the boys took to the field full of intent. From the kick off it was clear that the forwards were up for the clash winning ball at the rucks and competing well in the scrum. A dominant display from Cameron, Bertie , and Tom Haddy in the back row was ensuring the backs were free to use their pace. With Kingsbridge dominating at the breakdown, a blistering run from Harry Burner released Ben for Kings first try. With Kingsbridge competing for every ball a charge down by Cameron released Ted Slade for another try converted by an in form Ben.

Devonport services steadied their nerves with a well worked try and penalty and as they started to settle into their game plan   only a try saving tackle by Ben prevented Devonport equalising. With Scrum half Indi distributing the Ball well and an excellent performance at full back from Flynn Bewley, Kingsbridge started to dominate. The forwards were really competing for every ball and a powerful drive by Tom Haddy ensured another try.

A further two tries from Wilf and one from Ben put the match out of Devonport’s reach. This was a much improved team performance with a well drilled Kingsbridge team sticking to the coach’s game plan to secure victory over a strong Devonport side.
