U8 at the Ivybridge End of Season Tournament
Sunday saw under-8s team from across the South Hams gather in Ivybridge for the traditional end-of-season jamboree. Kingsbridge fielded two teams (just!) and had an eye on the silverware. Given the inauspicious start to the season, this reflected a great deal of progress since October, for which credit and thanks are due to our heroic coaching team. Appreciation is also due to Ivybridge, whose excellent facilities and hosting made the day easy and enjoyable for all.
Kings A team had a particularly tough group and fought hard to remain in contention in every game. Kings B took some time to warm up, bunching up and dropping passes during the first game against arch-rivals Plymstock. However it all came together as the day progressed and the boys and girls were soon running effectively in support of each other, linking passes and putting together some cracking tries. The well-deserved result was Kings B played 3, won 3.
Team players of the week were the indefatigable Ben Meek (who scored a great solo try immediately after being taken off following a clash of heads) and the irrepressible Harry Howell, who was also player of the tournament.
A fitting crescendo to a season that started in sickly fashion but ended in rude health.
