KRFC U8s vs Saltash Away, 15th January
Saltash 6 Kingsbridge U8s 11
Saltash 6 Kingsbridge U8s 12
An immediate try scored from the kick-off set the tone for what was to be an impressive display by the under 8s.
Faced with a home side lacking speed and prone to errors when put under pressure, they were quickly able to establish a lead which really never looked to be in any danger.
Ahead 6-2 at the start of the second half, the blues took the opportunity to experiment with a more flowing style of play and confidence grew as they stretched their lead even further.
The final result of 11-8 included a try as good as any they’ve ever scored, with every single team member doing their bit to get the ball across the line.
The second match started with Saltash looking to have found their rhythm, but their resurgence was short-lived and the Kings soon reasserted their dominance. Their aggressive defence forced their opponents into repeated mistakes which the blue and whites were quick to capitalise on.
In spite of finding themselves six points behind at the end of the first half Saltash didn’t let their heads drop, and Kingsbridge weren’t allowed to rest on their laurels. But they were undaunted and saw out the match clear winners by 12 points to 6.
