KRFC V’s Cullompton RFC
In perfect rugby conditions the KRFC U9’s began this seasons campaign with their first match against Cullompton RFC. 4 matches were played with an impressive display of enthusiasm from both sides who have obviously been well drilled and seem to be taking their training very seriously. Cullompton in particular were well organised offering stiff competition in the tackle and aggressive running in attack. The 19 (yes 19) KRFC players rose to the challenge and there was a keenness to tackle and defend, which whilst scrappy was effective.
The players learned how to spread the ball and work together thorough the matches, with concentration and technical ability improving all the time. In their first full contact tackling rugby KRFC U9’s won 2 games, drew 1, thanks to a great last minute Cullompton try and lost 1. All the players did themselves proud, but particular praise must go to Jake and Fergus, the coaches players of the week. Next game Topsham RFC away.
